Happy New Year!
Are you looking forward to a great year? I am, even though the pessimist in me always keeps me in check. I've started the year well by adding Finding Elim to Comic Space, ChristianComics.com, and ChristiansUnite.com. With a new comic, and especially a new artist, it's important to get "out there" in any forum possible. If you know of a listing, or collection that Finding Elim should be in, let me know!
New Comics: 11 new comics this month. 6 are here and 5 more are on the site. If any of the panels on the right are hard to read, click on the picture to see it full size.
Feedback:
Keep your suggestions coming. Do you have a funny story that you would like to see in print? Send 'em in!
Friends of Bob: Thanks again to everyone to has used Finding Elim in their websites and newsletters! Thanks also for your comments about the cupid guys, they're fun to draw.
Links of the month:
This month's theme is Band. I believe that one of God's greatest gifts is that of music. It can enhance our mood like nothing else. Also, being in a band is a great character-building experience for kids. Check out these examples:
The first clip is from the drum line of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. If you don't know about Drum Corps, it's an incredible organization that probably gives some of the most intense music and dance instruction available to kids under 21. The final product is a precision and sound that can only be seen live to be appreciated. See what I mean about skill, precision and teamwork with this clip.
Next is my favorite drum corps from California, the Blue Devils. My brother-in-law was once a member, and he's the one that got my family hooked. This clip is from an excersize that the horn line does to practice, and has become an attraction for the diehard fans of the corps. Again, despite the recording quality, the high level of cooperation and following the director is outstanding. Check it out.
Last is a different type of band from Japan called Tokyo Brass Style. I don't know much about them, except that it looks like an all-girl band with a pretty diverse collection of pieces. I realize these clips are directed videos, but it still makes my day to see these girls enjoying making really great music. Once again, it's not about any one individual, it's a team effort. The first is their cover of the Dragon Ball opening theme and the second is called Sora-Iro Days.
Do you have any good links that you think I should feature? Drop me a line.
Have a great month!
